Bulk carriers
Dry cargo is a cost game.
Where we put the emphasis
- Owners judge us on the daily running cost, so we buy at fleet scale and watch the small lines that quietly add up.
- A poor RightShip score costs fixtures. We keep vetting readiness as a standing condition, not a pre-inspection scramble.
- Hold condition is revenue protection. One wet-grain claim can wipe out a quarter's margin.
- CII ratings now decide who a charterer will take. We manage fuel and speed with next year's rating in mind.
Questions we typically ask
- 01What's her CII rating this year, and what are you doing to hold it?
- 02When is the next drydock and special survey, and what steel and coating work do you expect to find?
- 03What's the RightShip score today, and how did the last inspection go?
- 04Which cargoes dominate, and are any of them extra risk, like grain, coal or DRI?
- 05How much off-hire and how many cargo claims over the last three years?
- 06Is she on period charter or spot? It changes when we can get her into dock.
